A quick post earlier today by our friends at NW Free Press:

Getting Warmer Slower?

It appears that The Oregonian Editorial Board does not read the front page of its own newspaper.  In an editorial in today’s edition, the Board urges recognition of the connection between warming and extreme weather events like hurricanes and floods.  The Board references the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in support of its projections for extreme weather events in the Pacific Northwest.

Nowhere in its editorial does the Board mention a story on the front page of the paper with the headline:  “Research finds encouraging signs on global warming.”  Of course the Board would be quick to note that the authors of the study reported on in the front page story do not conclude that there is no global warming taking place — just that the IPCC’s projections are for much greater warming  than can be reasonably expected.  But you would think that the Board might acknowledge a ray of sunshine in the otherwise cloudy doom of climate change politics.
