You want to talk about a “war on women?”

As as SAHM of 3 kids, I find it ENORMOUSLY offensive to suggest that I don’t “work” or understand economics because I’m not given a paycheck for what I do!

Dana Loesch writes at Breitbart:

Hilary Rosen, a partner at SKDKnickerbocker, the PR firm of former Obama communications director Anita Dunn, charged that Ann Romney “hasn’t worked a day in her life” and suggested that Ann Romney can’t possibly understand economic issues because she’s a lowly homemaker.

What you have is Mitt Romney running around the country saying, “Well, my wife tells me what women really care about are economic issues.” And, “When I listen to my wife, that’s what I’m hearing.” Guess what? His wife has never actually worked a day in her life. She’s never really dealt with the economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing—in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school, and how do—why we worry about their future.

In the same breath Rosen ironically says:

… there’s something much more fundamental about Mitt Romney—he just seems so old-fashioned when it comes to women, and I think that comes across, and I think that’s going to hurt him over the long term. He just doesn’t really see us as equal.

Yes, there is something old-fashioned about the belief that a homemaker couldn’t understand the complexity of the economics affecting her household. Rosen apparently subscribes to the Linda Hirschman worldview, one that posits women are only as valuable as their contributions outside the home, unrelated to children and family. Rearing up the next generation that will someday run the world is woefully under appreciated.

From an overflow of the heart the mouth speaks and Rosen makes it clear that her prejudice against women who stay home stems from a lack of respect and appreciate for what those women do. If the goal of feminism is choice, Rosen betrays the mutual respect amongst members of the female sex by degrading the choices of other women.

It reminds me of the time when Hillary made a snarky remark about “staying home and baking cookies,” as if women who chose that lifestyle were worthless:

I bet if Ann Romney had taken a job at a daycare center raising OTHER people’s kids in exchange for a paycheck, while paying someone else to watch her own, THEN the Democrats would consider her a “working” mother.  To them, work only has value when it is outside the home and has dollar signs attached.

This is just the latest example of Democrats denigrating the value of parents fully engaged in raising their families.   They’d rather children be raised by the “village” and that parents’ labors be exerted for the benefit of the “collective.”   They completely dismiss the reality that healthy families create strong societies, and that having a full-time parent goes a long way towards ensuring that children are properly nurtured.  They see no value in a mother who uses her education and talents to raise her kids instead of joining the workforce.

Instead of attacking women who choose to stay home with their children, perhaps Democrats could help more women have more freedom of choice:
1) Eliminate the income tax so that hard-working head of households – including struggling single mothers – can bring home ALL their earnings to their families
2) Encourage intact families instead of incentivizing single parenthood with welfare checks and then discouraging women from marrying by threatening to cut off their support.
3) Teach children the three keys to avoiding poverty: finish high school, save sex for marriage, don’t have kids until after marriage.
4) Teach your kids to be faithful, hard-working spouses and parents, and how to spot dead-beats and avoid marrying them.
5) Stay out of debt
6) Live below your means

It took a lot of deliberate choices and sacrifices for me to be able to stay home with my kids.  It wasn’t “luck” or a “privilege” that only the rich can enjoy.   And it certainly isn’t easy!

Keep on alienating your voter base, Democrats.  Every day that passes, more and more women are beginning to wake up to the fact that you do NOT represent – much less respect  – their interests and choices.
