Loose The Dogs Of War

“Let us remember that if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it.”

– Samuel Adams

Breitbart

Therein lies a pithy assessment, penned nearly240 years ago, that defines our situation today. We have endured attack after attack; thus encouraging more of the same. The attacks have been underway for decades, but it was not until Islamofascists essentially teamed with our homegrown Leftists that significant traction has been attained.

Some have expressed surprise that American Leftists and Islamofascists have joined forces; particularly in the aftermath of 9/11. They are amazed that American university professors are at this moment meeting in Teheran, strategizing for further “occupy protests”, yet there they are. This should come as no surprise.

Some in America believe that the country is lurching toward a communist, socialist state, and we see such references often in conservative literature, but they are wrong: the American Left is firmly rooted in fascism; for the moment, their interests merely coincide with those of the Islamofascists. Under communism, the fundamental goal was totalitarian control by force: the government took direct control of all means of economic advancement and production; bureaucrats developed long-term “plans” to guide the advancement of all processes toward the greater glory of the Motherland.

And while we see glimmers of that in the USA today, in the form of “Government Motors” and other so-called “takeovers”, it is important to note that the government purchased an overriding interest in GM; it did not assume direct control over the company. Fascism differs from communism in this regard: it seeks domination while ostensibly deferring to supposed private owners – and this is precisely what occurred in the case of Government Motors and other endeavors.

The unifying thesis of both is that economic freedom necessarily yields individual freedom; anathema both to communists and to fascists. As capitalism produces, in many cases, economic freedom, which in turn leads to increased individual freedom, it is a system that cannot be tolerated by communists nor by fascists.

Whereas capitalism fosters economic freedom and communism demands full state oversight, fascism simply imposes its will through increased implementation of arcane taxes and fees, leading to high levels of unemployment and increased public discontent. To counter these speed bumps, fascists create jobs and “social safety nets” through a combination of extensive borrowing and the imposition of further increases in taxes and fees upon the overly-productive segments of the society.

This approach may sound somewhat familiar in an era of “stimulus”, high unemployment, Obamacare, skyrocketing borrowing, and calls for the rich to “pay their fair share” – all part of the “demands” of the Leftists who refer to themselves as the 99%. As they loathe capitalism, and have not quite, as yet, graduated to outright communism, they are clearly fascists. And they have declared war, without having the guts to come right out and say so, upon their countrymen.

We have a President who has asserted that he has the authority to order the killing of U.S. Citizens. We have American professors meeting in Iran to determine the next steps to be taken in what Nancy Pelosi refers to as a “grass-roots, spontaneous protest” that has, in fact been shown to be highly organized by the American Left. There may not have been any shots fired in the U.S. (that our media has reported) – yet – but it is clear that we are now at war.

Andrew Breitbart correctly noted that we find ourselves in this situation because, historically, conservatives have a tendency toward a laissez faire perspective: we leave them be. When they hurl invective, many simply duck into their bomb-proof shelters and assume that all will be well once the Leftist tantrum has passed.

We simply cannot afford to leave them be any longer.
