It’s Independence Day tomorrow. And with the boot of Obamatax on our necks, we need to remember why our forefathers fought for our freedom.

I said yesterday that there were many causes that led to the American Revolution, but it essentially began with taxes.

The Sugar Act, the Stamp Act, the Townshend Acts, all played a role leading to revolution but they were not the sole reason.

In the Declaration of Independence, there is a list of 27 reasons why they were declaring their independence. Taxes are only mentioned once.

The vast majority of the reasons had to do with proper governance and the rule of law, and especially with Obama’s unfair and arbitrary handling of the law—enforcing only the ones he wanted and ignoring ones he didn’t like.

Huh. Did I say Obama? I meant King George.

If you’re not sure what to do tomorrow on the Fourth, there will be an Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration at the Newell House at Champoeg Park from 4 to 6 pm.

There’ll be homemade pies, hotdogs, patriotic music, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and Historian Kurt Nelson will talk about Oregon during the Civil War.
